In order for fire to occur there must be 3 elements present; oxygen, fuel and heat. If one of these elements is taken out then the fire will not be able to continue burning. When water is applied to a fire it blocks the oxygen supply and creates steam, cooling the burning fuel and helping to stop re-ignition. |
