Every workplace in UK is required to display a
Health and safety law poster
within their workplace. Failure to display this poster or to provide the details to employees is an offence under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Nationwide Fire Extinguishers
sell the updated and revised HSE Health and Safety at Work Law Poster which should replace any of the older (pre 1999) versions. The revised
Health and safety law poster
provides employees with basic information on health and safety and includes two sections which allow personalised information to be noted.
An employee's health, safety and welfare are protected by law. It is the employer's duty to keep employees informed on health and safety issues. The Health and safety law poster is a brief guide to health and safety law, providing a listing of key points which include Health and safety consultation and representation arrangements at this workplace. Employers must consult staff or representatives on matters to do with staff health and safety, including: any change which may significantly affect health and safety at work, in procedures, equipments or systems of working.
The official HSE "What You Should Know" poster, changed on 1st July 2000 and all UK employers are required, by law to display a copy of the Health and Safety Law Poster in the workplace. This poster is designed to provide employees with information on safety legislation and list sources of further advice. This new revision by the Health and Safety Executive takes into account recent changes to health and safety law and if you are currently displaying the old black and white pre-2000 poster, you need to replace it with the current version. Employers have a legal duty to display this poster in a prominent position in each workplace. This updated health and safety law poster removes references to obsolete legal requirements and the revised content focuses on the modern framework of general duties, supplemented by the basics of health and safety management and risk assessment. It now includes two additional boxes: one for details of trade union or other safety reps and one for competent persons appointed to assist with health and safety and their responsibilities.
