Observe and identify the types of materials in the area fire extinguishers are to be used in.
Class A: SOLIDS such as paper, wood, plastic etc.
Class B: FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS such as paraffin, petrol, oil etc.
Class C: FLAMMABLE GASES such as propane, butane, methane etc.
Class D: METALS such as aluminium, magnesium, titanium etc.
Class E: Fires involving ELECTRICAL APPARATUS
Class F: Cooking OIL & FAT etc
Is the cheapest and most widely used water fire extinguishers. This can be used for Class A fires. But is ‘Not’ suitable for Class B Liquid fires, or fires where electric is involved. Colour Coding, RED.
This type is more expensive than water extinguishers but Foam Fire Extinguishers can be used for Classes A & B Fires.
