Annual visual extinguisher inspection

Britannia P50 fire extinguishers do not require a yearly service by an engineer.  An annual visual inspection can be carried out by a competent person, and then recorded on the back of the extinguisher and in your company's log book.  During the inspection, the following should be checked/completed:

- Any signs of damage or tampering

- Ensure that the tamper seal is still in place

- Clean any dirt or dust on the extinguisher body and hose

- Turn the extinguisher upside down to check the manufacturing date

- Both pressure gauges should show the needles in the green position.  To ensure the gauges are reading correctly, move a magnet from side to side underneath the front gauge.  This ensures the needle in moving freely.
